I was looking to try something other than the Merrells I had been wearing for years. I was convinced to try the Scarpa hiking boots. I kind of miss my Merrells. I do light to moderate hiking daily, about 3 miles or so. THe Scarpa are fine. I am still wearing them but I think I like the fit of my Merrells better. These boot don't wuite have the support I would like and that is with orthotic inserts. I have plantar fasciitis and my heal hurts after a hike in the Scarpa. It did not hurt after a hike in the Merrells. If you don't have feet issues then you may find the boots to be great. They are well made and I do feel like my ankle is well supported. I may wear these out but then go back to my Merrells.
