Orca’s popular 226 Kompress Tri-Tech Pant has been re-engineered for increased comfort and performance over the distances of long course triathlon. The pant is constructed from Orca’s KillaSkn Kompress fabric, which is scientifically proven to provide optimum levels of active and graduated compression, helping triathletes race further, faster. The fabric is water repellent for performance in the swim, has UPF50+ sun protection. A double thickness panel is positioned in the lower back area for increased support. The new wide cut KompressMesh leg hems use a compression mesh bonded seal. This provides a super comfortable, low profile hem that aids with muscle compression and aids blood flow from the upper legs to the heart, helping you to go harder for longer. The 226 Tri-Tech Pant has a revised technical waistband that sits flat against the skin for increased comfort and a new pocket placement to hold contents more securely. The 226 Tri-Tech Pant utilises Orca’s technically advanced 4mm hybrid chamois, which is now perforated for increased breathability. Reflective elements provide increased visibility in low light conditions, while there is increased leg coverage with the 23cm/9in inseam.

The pants run small. I'm 5.11 170lb 42/32/39. That puts me pretty much on a size M, except for my chest and shoulders. After being unable to get their size 7 wetsuit to fit (and needing a size 8, which is for 180lb men), I ordered a size up on these pants and I'm glad I did.

The size L is VERY snug on me, though not to the point of restriction. The waist is the only part that I wouldn't mind a little tighter (size L is for 34-36), but it's still not loose on me there and has to stretch a little bit. The waist is very high all the way around -- almost up to navel in front and as with most shorts for biking, high in back, too.

The material is quite smooth and I imagine it would work well in a non-wetsuit swim. I've not swum in it myself and am unlikely to do so -- though I'll wear it under the wetsuit for my next race.

As yet, I've only worn them on the trainer, not taken them for a real ride or run. The chamois is thin, but it's actually much more comfortable than my normal biking shorts with their traditional thick chamois.

The strange part about this item is that it's both warm and cool. I'll start sweating under it very soon after putting it on; ie. it's warmer than my bike-only shorts. However, it wicks moisture away so quickly that even inside and not exercising, I'll feel a cold breeze from the evaporating sweat. It's as if I was wearing insulated shorts with a swamp cooler attached. I have a 226 top and trisuit, too -- all 3 items have this strange warm/cool sensation.

It will be interesting to see how it feels on a race.

-1 star for sizing issues and suspected durability issues. The fabric is VERY thin and seems flimsy and susceptible to rips. However, with modern synthetics, the only way to know is to use it until it fails; ie. my first impression of durability could be wrong -- I hope it is.
