Shipping from this vendor was faster than promised. I ordered the wakizashi on Friday, and it was waiting for me when I arrived home on tuesday. Product was well packed and arrived safely.

My initial impressions of this Munetoshi wakizashi were positive. Everything seems tight and properly put together. Plain but functional.

The blade is nicely polished and has a keen edge straight from the box. Not straight-razor sharp, but it will cut. The edge has been beleveled nicely, not the standard "one pass on a grinder for each side" edge I am accustomed to seeing on a new knife or sword. Someone skilled in the art of sharpening swords would no doubt want to improve upon it. The blade is carbon steel, which means it will rust if not cared for properly. Overall I am satisfied with the blade quality.

Saya (scabbard) is made of wood. The fit could be better. Mine is a little tight which hampers a smooth draw. I will need to work on it. The Sageo (cord wrapping) is nicely done. The steel Tsuba (guard) is tightly mounted. I like the minimalist look.

Overall, the wakizashi is light and handles well. I am very impressed with it. If you are looking for a no nonsense practical blade at a bargain price, give it a try. I am very pleased with it.
