Quiksilver isn't the first brand that comes to mind when I think cold weather gear, but I love a lighter jacket of theirs that I wear all the time. Found a great deal on this jacket just searching online and I think I might have found my next favorite cold weather layer.

The Ghost Tree is 500FP goose down, and the quilted design keeps everything equally distributed across the jacket so it stays warm without getting too bulky, which is really the best feature. I haven't had a chance to wear this in the extremes of say 5-10 below zero, but it's stood up fine to normal cold conditions. I'm wearing it in the high 20's with just a pair of t-shirts underneath to walk the dog and feel very comfortable.

All in all I love it, even though it ran a little larger than I expected. Usually quiksilver's xl is perfect for me, maybe a little snug if I haven't worked out in a while. But this leaves me room for multiple layers underneath. Probably a good thing when that colder weather finally gets here.
