I have read mixed reviews on this real but I have to say that with fluorocarbon line, this real is really smooth. We do a lot of light tackle fishing on grassy flats and I found this real to hold up to the harshest saltwater conditions. I also, find the brake system to work well but has difficulty with worms but this is an inshore saltwater real which it could be reasonably expected that you will need a weight. We mainly use thunder pop balbers which work well in the grassy flats. I ordered another real to replace one of our other bait casters.
