Golana Swiss Men's AQ200-4 Aqua Pro 200 Quartz Watch Review

I'll begin by stating the obvious - this is not a watch that will compete with an omega, rolex, or any other top of the line swiss timepiece - but it will hold its own at this price point.

This watch was purchased as a replacement to my orient blue mako, thus some comparisons will be made as this review continues.

Firstly, this watch is solidly constructed, with a 200m water resistance rating, you don't have to baby it. The crystal is excellent - sapphire coated mineral, and superior to the crystal found on the blue mako in clarity. The movement is a swiss ETA - almost certainly one of the value movements, but it is swiss, and it does keep outstanding time. The important words 'Swiss Made' are found on the face. I mention this because my particular blue mako, although a very well built and stylish watch, had a movement which failed within a week - this is not something that should be an issue with a readily available ETA movement.

The lume is quite excellent - it does not last incredibly long, but should be bright for an hour after being exposed to sunlight, and still visible for a few hours after that. The face is a nice metallic blue which I feel matches the bezel better than the orient blue mako face and bezel. The arabic numerals are exceedingly easy to read.

Weak points for this watch would include the band - which although very attractive, is somewhat cheap feeling - luckily this trend is not continued elsewhere on the watch. This can be remedied by a good fit, and I do not find it bothersome once on the wrist. The orient blue mako on the other hand, has an exceptionally well built band.

Other small touches lacking on the Golana that are found on the orient are the stylish crown guard and a signed crown. The Golana, on the other hand, has greater wrist presence than the orient, and wears slightly larger than the 42mm size would lead one to believe.

All that being said, the Golana is a super value for the price and looks much more expensive - if you are considering a diver in this price range, especially if you have been looking at the orient, you would be doing yourself a favor to look into the Golana. This watch clearly has a masculine presence, and numerous compliments are awaiting the wearer.
