I had used Chinese replicas of Aitor knives before, with mixed results. I had wanted a Jubgle King 2 and Commando for a while. It was nice to find the real Aitors for sale on Amazon. They are available sporadically in the US thanks to the Chinese copies poisoning the market. This has the little dimple showing Rockwell hardness and serial number on the blade.
A single steel roll pin holds the knife to the handle. I would feel better if the inside of that pin was threaded and an Allen screw was in place. Some of the Chinese ones do that. But we will see.
The ferro rod in the survival capsule is too small. There should be a longer rod cast onto the sheath. Then put three matches in there.
I think the capsules used to have a magnifier end, this one does not.
The spring that pops out the survival capsule is not captive. It can fall right out with the capsule removed. You might as well toss it and use the extra space for tinder.
Advertised to come shaving sharp, it would take off arm hair, but barely.
The saw teeth are sharp, seem a good design.
I am not sure of the quality of the compass.
The various holes for cord on the sheath and for a lanyard are too small for 550 cord. You can buy extra or replacement cord like that which comes with the knife from Aitor in Spain, but that is a hassle for American customers.
You need to find a way to include some copper or brass wire somewhere.
I wrapped my handle with twine to have more twine. It is fine without.
I really wish it was set up for and came.with 550 cord.
The leg ties need you to knot the ends to keep them on. I point this out since NO INSTRUCTIONS come with the knife. It needs a sheet explaining to the owner what all came with it, how it all works together, etc.
There is a sharpening stone on the sheath under the cord.
Of course you get a slingshot, skinning knife and maybe useful single mirror.
One of the leg tie pieces could be a whistle if they updated this or you modify it. As is, it is not.
I want to like this more than I do. It shows promise, and in the 70s or 80s likely was great. It is well made. I just don't know. Maybe there are better choices. But as a single system...yes this is worth using if you need or use a belt knife and want a little extra gear with said knife.
